America’s Junior Miss Invites Mobile Community to Participate in 2008 AJM National Finals Events

America’s Junior Miss will welcome the Class of 2008 to Mobile on Monday, June 16, 2008, to participate in the 51st Annual AJM National Finals. One participant from every state will compete for a share of $150,000 in college scholarships and the title of America’s Junior Miss 2008. The contestants will stay in Mobile until June 29 and will participate in a number of activities and events during their stay. AJM officials would like to cordially invite Gulf Coast residents to participate in the following events:

AJM Arrival Ceremony
Monday, June 16- 5:30 pm- Mobile Regional Airport
The public is invited to welcome the fifty 2008 Junior Misses and America’s Junior Miss 2007, Nora Ali, to Mobile. There is no charge for this event.

Junior Miss Meet & Greet
Saturday, June 21 - 6:15 pm – 8:15 pm - Colonial Mall Bel-Air
Don’t miss your chance to meet the 2008 Junior Misses and AJM 2007, Nora Ali.

AJM Night – Mobile BayBears
Tuesday, June 24 - 5:30 pm - Hank Aaron Stadium
Join the AJM Class of 2008 as the BayBears take on the Montgomery Biscuits. Prior to the game, the contestants will participate in a “North vs. South” softball game, will all sing the National Anthem, and will throw the first pitch.

AJM Community Night
Wednesday, June 25 - 6:30 pm - Mobile Civic Center Theatre
This “sneak preview” of the AJM 51st Annual National Finals is open only to Gulf Coast residents. Join us for a preview of what will go on during the preliminaries and finals and some special entertainment exclusive to this show. Tickets are $5.00/person and are available at the door or online at www.ajm.org.

America’s Junior Miss will celebrate its 51st Annual National Finals June 26-28, 2008 in Mobile, Alabama. The program will be broadcast live at 7 p.m. June 28 on WPMI-TV 15's Web site, www.nbc15online.com. Major sponsors for 2008 are the City of Mobile and Mobile County. Category sponsors are Alabama Power, Encore Rehabilitation, Mobile Gas, Regions Bank, and Wintzell’s Oyster House.

America’s Junior Miss (AJM) is the nation’s oldest and largest scholarship program for college-bound high school seniors. The program, headquartered in Mobile, Alabama, began in 1958. Since then, AJM has awarded more than $87.7 million in college scholarships at the local, state, and national levels. Over 700,000 young women from all over the country have participated in Junior Miss programs. AJM is proud to have the assistance of more than 17,000 volunteers throughout the United States, who help to make the Junior Miss program successful at the local and state levels.
