AMERICA’S JUNIOR MISS 50TH ANNUAL NATIONAL FINALS TO BEGIN THURSDAY

The first preliminary competition of America’s Junior Miss will begin tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. at the Mobile Civic Center Theater. Twenty five contestants will perform their talent pieces, and the other half will complete the fitness and self-expression portions of the competition. The Calagaz Scrapbook Award, Press-Register Daily Journal Award, Wintzell’s My Town Award, Colonial Mall Bel Air Community Service Award, and AJM Alumnae Council Be Your Best Self Essay Awards will be announced at the end of Thursday’s competition. These awards are separate from the evaluation procedure used to select America’s Junior Miss and do not affect the contestant’s overall scores.

The AJM Class of 2007 participants are competing for a share of $150,000 in college scholarships and the title of America’s Junior Miss for 2007 in the 50th Annual National Finals June 28-30. The program will be broadcast live at 7 p.m. June 30 on WPMI-TV 15's Web site, www.nbc15online.com. Major sponsors for 2007 are the City of Mobile, Mobile County, and the Mitchell Company. Category sponsors are Alabama Power, Encore Rehabilitation, Mobile Gas, Regions Bank, and Wintzell’s Oyster House.
