June 24, 2007 2007 JUNIOR MISSES TO PARTICIPATE IN OYSTER EATING CONTEST After a long weekend of rehearsing for the 50th Annual National Finals, the America’s Junior Miss Class of 2007 contestants are preparing themselves for a different kind of competition – the annual AJM Oyster Eating Contest at Wintzell’s Oyster House on Dauphin Street. The young women will compete on Monday to see who can suck down the most raw oysters. Many of them will try the slimy Southern treat for the first time. The girls will also enjoy lunch at Mobile’s most famous restaurant. The competition and lunch will take place from 11:45 to 12:45. The contestants will continue preparing for the National Finals Monday morning and Monday afternoon. On Monday evening, the participants will have a Pajama Party with the Girl Scouts of the Deep South and the Dauphin Way Baptist Church Tweens n’ Teens group. This event will take place at Dauphin Way Baptist Church at 6:00 p.m. The Class of 2007 will compete for a share of $150,000 in cash scholarships and the title of America’s Junior Miss 2007 at the 50th Annual National Finals on June 28-30.
