AMERICA’S JUNIOR MISS 2006, TAYLOR PHILLIPS, TO PARTICIPATE IN
SENIOR BOWL ACTIVITIES
Taylor Phillips, America’s Junior Miss for 2006, will arrive in Mobile on Thursday to participate in Senior Bowl activities on Friday and Saturday. A native of Versailles, KY, Taylor is currently a student at Stanford University.
On Friday at 1:30, Taylor will visit the University of South Alabama Children’s and Women’s Hospital to meet and greet patients with the Senior Bowl players. At 4:30 on Friday, she will take part in the Meet the Players event at the Mobile Convention Center. This event is open to the public and will end at 6:00. At 6:30, Taylor will attend the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame Induction Reception at the Mobile Country Club. Taylor will take part in Saturday’s pre-game coin toss, scheduled to take place at 2:55.
America’s Junior Miss (AJM), is the oldest and largest scholarship program for high school senior girls. The nonprofit program’s goal is to honor young women who excel and encourage them to obtain a college education and assume roles of leadership in their communities and professions. During the past 49 years, AJM has awarded scholarships totaling more than $88 million to girls across the nation. More than 700,000 young collegebound young women have competed in the program, including Diane Sawyer, co-host of ABC’s "Good Morning America" and co-anchor of "Primetime Thursday;" Deborah Norville, host of both "Inside Edition" and MSNBC’s "Deborah Norville Tonight;" and Debra Messing, co-star of NBC’s "Will & Grace."
AJM’s national sponsors for 2006-2007 are the City of Mobile, Mobile County, and the Mitchell Company. Category sponsors are Alabama Power, Encore Rehabilitation, Mobile Gas, Regions Bank, and Wintzell’s Oyster House.
