Nora Makes Appearances in Washington DC
Nora's trip to Washington DC was fabulous! On Thursday, she met with Senator Amy Klobuchar from Minnesota (pictured left) during an open house she holds for constituents. She was thrilled to meet Nora and proud of her accomplishments.
Nora had lunch Congressman Jo Bonner in the members’ dining room at the Capitol and briefly toured the area with him. Nora was able to also meet Nancy Pelosi.
Nora was then able to meet with Senator Coleman from Minnesota (pictured left). As it turned out Nora played at a concert in which Senator Coleman’s daughter was dancing, so he had heard her play the violin before. He was gracious to have his photo taken with Nora and take a few minutes of his time to speak with her.
The most exciting part of the visit was Nora’s trip to the White House Thursday evening. Nora sat at a table with Condoleezza Rice, and spoke with her about Junior Miss. They were just 10 feet from where President Bush sat and only 5 feet from where he spoke.
On Friday, Nora visited the Gerstell Academy in Maryland, which is an exclusive private school dedicated to creating leaders from young people. Nora and Maryland’s Junior Miss spoke and performed to a group of about 200 students. Dr. Fred Smith, the founder of the school and was happy to have Nora as a guest at his school.
