YOUNG WOMAN FROM MISSISSIPPI WINS FITNESS AWARD DURING AJM SECOND PRELIMINARY

The 52nd AJM National Finals continued on Friday, June 26, with the second and last night of the preliminary of competition. Category scholarship awards were presented to members of the AJM Class of 2009 at the end of the night in fitness, self expression and scholastics.

Mississippi’s Junior Miss, Sidney Anthony of Ridgeland, won preliminary awards in fitness and self expression during the program for a total of $2,000 in cash scholarships.

During the fitness competition, each young woman performs a choreographed aerobic routine with her group which includes a solo that consists of kicks and pushups. This category demonstrates each young woman's level of rhythm, stamina and flexability.

The Class of 2009 will compete for a share of $125,000 in cash scholarships and the title of America’s Junior Miss 2009 at the 52nd Annual National Finals on June 27.
