YOUNG WOMAN FROM CALIFORNIA WINS SCHOLASTICS AWARD DURING AJM SECOND PRELIMINARY

The 52nd AJM National Finals continued on Friday, June 26, with the second and last night of the preliminary of competition. Category scholarship awards were presented to members of the AJM Class of 2009 at the end of the night in fitness, self expression and scholastics.

California’s Junior Miss, Lauren Xie of Rohnert Park, won preliminary awards in scholastics and self expression during the program for a total of $2,000 in cash scholarships.

Scholastics accounts for 20% of each young woman's overall score and is evaluated by a separate panel of judges.

The Class of 2009 will compete for a share of $125,000 in cash scholarships and the title of America’s Junior Miss 2009 at the 52nd Annual National Finals on June 27.
