Prospective Contestant

Dear Prospective Contestant,

The Junior Miss Program is a very special opportunity for you to earn scholarships for college, expand your talents, and learn skills that will be very helpful as you interview for jobs and pursue an education. The mission of America's Junior Miss is to emphasize education by providing scholarship opportunities to outstanding, college-bound, high school girls and to encourage personal development in all young people.

The platform of the program is Be Your Best Self. The Be Your Best Self program is a nationwide outreach aimed primarily at encouraging self-esteem in young people. The Junior Miss program adopted the platform in 1987 as a way for Junior Misses to share a positive, personal approach to young people and to help encourage them to lead successful and productive lives. The Be Your Best Self Program includes making a personal promise to eat the right foods, stay fit, get a good education, live by moral principals, serve your community, set goals, and work to reach your goals.

As part of the program held on March 15-17, you will be judged in five areas of achievement. These include Scholastic Achievement, Interview, Talent, Fitness, and Self-Expression. Scholastic Achievement is 20% of the overall score in which a panel of five scholars, counselors, and others familiar with high school transcript evaluation review and score a contestant's high school academic record and test scores. The Interview is 25% of the overall score and is an evaluation of a contestant's personality, her ability to relate to others, her maturity, and her ability to express herself. The Talent portion is 25% of the overall score and is an evaluation of a contestant's performing arts talent during a 90-second presentation on stage, in front of an audience. Fitness makes up 15% of the overall score and is based on contestant's overall physical stamina, coordination, agility, and flexibility during a choreographed aerobic routine. And finally, the self-expression portion is an evaluation of a contestant’s poise, demeanor, sense of style, and speaking ability. This makes up the other 15% of the score. Scholarships will be given to many, if not all participants. These include category winners, overall winners, and the Spirit of Junior Miss.

The only requirements to participate are that you are currently enrolled as a Junior in high school and that you are a citizen of the United States. Sign up online today. To find out more about this exciting opportunity contact me at the number below.
