America's Junior Miss awarded more than $150,000 in cash scholarships to the AJM Class of 2007 during the 2007 AJM National Finals in Mobile, Alabama.
America's Junior Miss 2007
Nora Ali of Minnesota won the title of America's Junior Miss 2007, becoming the first AJM of the Muslim faith and only the second from Minnesota. Nora also won preliminary awards in scholastics, interview, talent, and self-expression for a total of $54,000 in cash scholarships. Nora will attend Harvard in the fall to study business and economics.
First Runner Up
Karin Tsai of Pennsylvania received $25,000 in cash scholarships when she won first runner up to America's Junior Miss, a Be Your Best Self Essay award, and preliminary awards in scholastics, talent, interview, and self-expression for a total of $30,000 in cash scholarships. Karin will attend Princeton University in the fall to study chemical engineering/medicine.
Second Runner Up
Chantel Hopper of Nevada received $17,000 in cash scholarships and was named second runner up to America's Junior Miss. Chantel also won preliminary awards in scholastics, talent, interview, and fitness for a total of $21,000 in cash scholarships. Chantel will attend Duke University in the fall to pursue a career in medical research.

Fitness Awards
Preliminary awards in the fitness category were presented to Chantel Hopper of Nevada, Brooke Beard of South Carolina, Lexi Novak of Connecticut, Mallory Peebles of Oregon, and Jane Chaffee of North Carolina.
Talent Awards
Preliminary awards in the talent category were presented to Chantel Hopper of Nevada, Becky Geggatt of Massachusetts, Karin Tsai of Pennsylvania, Nora Ali of Minnesota, and Mary Catherine McAnnally of Alabama.
Self-Expression Awards
Preliminary awards in the self-expression category were presented to Kaila Mattson of Wisconsin, Jammie Layman of Kansas, Nora Ali of Minnesota, Mary Catherine McAnnally of Alabama, and Karin Tsai of Pennsylvania.
Spirit of Junior Miss
Each year the 50 Junior Misses vote on the young woman among their class who they feel represents the Junior Miss spirit. Though this award has no effect on the overall scores, the Spirit of Junior Miss award is a honor from your peers and is awarded during the AJM National Finals. The AJM class of 2007 chose Mary Catherine McAnnally of Alabama to receive the Spirit of Junior Miss award for 2007. Dee Ann Allen presented Mary Catherine with a $1000 cash scholarship from the AJM Alumnae council.
Be Your Best Self Essay Awards
Each contestant was asked to write an essay on the Be Your Best Self program. The AJM Alumnae Council awarded $1,000 scholarships to Karin Tsai of Pennsylvania, Mary Catherine McAnnally of Alabama, and Paige Ledger of Iowa for their Be Your Best Self essays.
Press-Register Daily Journal Award
Each day contestants had the opportunity to write journal entries about their experiences in Mobile. Top entries were chosen each day and published in the Press-Register. Click here to read the daily journal entries.

Contestants were asked to write an essay about the importance of community service. Heather Badeaux of Louisiana received a $1,500 cash scholarship from Bel Air Mall for her essay about community service.
Wintzell's My Town Award
Keelan O'Connell of Texas received the $1,000 cash scholarship from Wintzell's Oyster House for her community service in her hometown of Abilene, Texas.
