Distinguished Young Woman
of America 2010

Madison Leonard of Idaho is the 53rd young woman to win the program's overall award, but she's the first to win the program's new name. In addition to Madison's down-to-earth personality and ability to articulate her thoughts, her vocal rendition ofthe jazzy number, The Nearness of You, while accompanying herself on the piano, impressed both the audience and the judges

Madison graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School where she was salutatorian, participated in musical theater and was a member of the varsity tennis team. Through the local, state and national programs, Madison won more than $50,000 and is the first to win the title of Distinguished Young Woman of America.

Madison is the program's first-ever winner from Idaho. She plans to attend Pepperdine University in the fall to study music performance and journalism.
